kabhi alvida naa kehna's writing is definitely very beautiful - it is witty, intelligent and empowering. there is a certain amount of 'coolness' to kabhi that resonates with audiences on a deeper level because he has no hidden agendas. he's not trying to save the world or even himself.

kabhi alvida naa kehna has stars like ajay devgn, abhishek bachchan, kareena kapoor and aishwarya rai in major roles. and ever since i was a kid, i have been fascinated with the famous bollywood film amar akbar anthony - the film is a combination of godfather 1 & 2 and is a dark comedy.
it will be an interesting cultural mash-up given that kareena is from india and acting in a hollywood movie. maybe karan was simply experimenting and wants to see what the road is like for him and his company. maybe they wanted to make a movie called kareena or karan or something else. if the trailers of the movie are any indication, its a big-budgeted hollywood shoot.
kajol, nimrat kaur and irrfan khan were the three winners of the national film awards in the 'best performance in a leading role' category. after winning the national film award, kabhi alvida na kehna swept the indiand film critics' association awards in the 'best film', 'best performance in a leading role' and 'best performance in a comic role' categories. and to add to the allure, the 23-year old star also won the screen award for best supporting actress.
the director won best screenplay for kabhi alvida na kehna and was awarded the filmfare award for best director for kabhi alvida na kehna. i don't know if i would have found this film funny if i hadn't been in a similar situation to vidya, i'm sure i would have laughed at her plight and her obnoxious and apologetic attitude. i loved the way vidya coped up with her lies and also the way she regained her love for her husband when she realized just how loving and caring he is. but what i found particularly interesting is that she must have had this whole experience many times before and she still fell for this ex. but i don't think that would have happened if she knew what she wanted and went for it. she was just too young, too inexperienced and just not mature enough to be able to make this kind of split. so its good to see that vidya is a grown up by the end of the film. i have read that the film is about love at first sight which is not a coincidence as it shows that love can and does happen, even at the age of 23. in fact even at the age of 23 i would still be willing to have a go at vidya after what she has been through.
